We know that the consumption of too much sugar can have a negative impact on our bodies. Even though we are aware of this, we can still find it hard to kick our sugar habits, because sugar can be addictive.
The truth is our body needs some form of glucose, just not the extremely high levels we often consume. Now you might be reading this thinking this doesn't apply to you because you don’t eat chocolate, sweets, cakes, biscuits, etc. Have you thought about the sugars in refined carbohydrates, processed meals, cereals, juices, fizzy drinks, and even alcohol? They all contribute to our sugar intake.
Research conducted by Clevland Clinic advised that the most notable effect of too much sugar in the body is the development of insulin resistance. When we have Insulin Resistance, our muscles, fat, and liver cells cannot respond to insulin in the right way causing high blood sugar levels as well as creating hormonal imbalance.
Despite knowing this our ability to break the sugar addiction can be challenging, however, if there are foods that can cause havoc in our body then that must mean there are foods that can support our health. Stay tuned for part 2.
