Ancient grains are a term that is been used to market products such as spelt, barley, teff, oats, quinoa, and amaranth. However, the reason they are known to be ancient is that they have been grown the same way for several hundred years.
Meaning they have not been modified so you'll obtain all the nutritional value they have to offer. That sounds like a really good reason t0 add them to your diet.
They are a carbohydrate so even if they do have a high nutritional value if your aim is to lose weight then you don't want to eat too much, but I would suggest you include them in your diet.
Why am I sharing all this? Well, the reason is that in the February blog I wrote about the lack of diversity in our diets. If you recall I advised that to obtain a diverse range of foods you should eat more fruits, vegetables, and ancient grains.
